The ban on animal testing of finished cosmetic products in Europe came into force in September 2004, since then it has been illegal to test finished cosmetic products on animals in Europe. In the UK, testing of finished cosmetic products was banned in 1998.

For this reason, no ingredients used in cosmetics may be tested anywhere in the UK and Europe.
The ban on animal testing of cosmetic ingredients in the Europe came fully into force in July 2013.
